The release date for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been brought forward by one week to 10th November 2020, aligning its launch with the now-confirmed arrival of Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox Series S and X machines.
Ubisoft’s Viking-set blockbuster was previously due to arrive on 17th November.
This new launch date applies to all available platforms: PC (via Epic and Uplay), PlayStation 4, Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X. Valhalla will also launch on PlayStation 5 “upon the launch of the console”, Ubisoft says, which rather suggests it will launch later.
On Xbox Series X, Valhalla will run at 4K and 60FPS. It will benefit from “higher resolution textures and improved shadow quality” plus “clutter density”, which sounds fun. It will also use the console’s SSD for faster loading and smoother traversal. Finally, it is a Smart Delivery game, meaning you can upgrade from an Xbox One copy at no extra cost.
